The Rev. Thomas Eugene Perrier, O.S.B., monk of St. Joseph Abbey in Saint Benedict, died at the abbey Monday, Oct. 26, 2009. He was 56 years old.

He was the son of the late Eugene Perrier III and Myrtle Weathers. He was born Dec. 4 1952, in New Orleans. He made his profession as a Benedictine Monk of St. Joseph Abbey July 10, 1975. He was ordained to the priesthood Jan. 5, 1980.

He is survived by two sisters, Sister Rochelle Perrier, MSC and Sister Christine Perrier, MSC.

The Rev. Thomas served as director of Camp Abbey, professor in St. Joseph Seminary College, Novice Master and director of the Christian Life Center.

Thomas’ body will be received at St. Joseph Abbey tomorrow at 5:15 p.m. followed by the singing of Vespers. The funeral vigil will be held at 7:15 p.m. in the Abbey Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:15 a.m. at St. Joseph Abbey followed by interment in the Abbey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, make donations to St. Joseph Abby, 75356 River Road, St. Benedict, LA 70457.
