Thanks to my friend Joe Sandrock, who passes along the following:
This woman’s husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months, yet she stayed by his bedside every single day.
One day, when he came to, he motioned for her to come nearer. As she sat by him, he whispered, eyes full of tears, “You know what? You’ve been with me through all the bad times. When I got fired, you were there to support me. When my business failed, you were there. When I got shot, you were by my side. When we lost the house, you stayed right here. When my health started failing, you were still by my side. You know what?”
“What, dear,” she gently asked, smiling as her heart began to fill with warmth.
“I think you’re bad luck!” he replied.
My friend John Wickert asked me to invite y’all to Community Christian Church’s Fall Festival this Saturday. It takes place in John Slidell Park from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
John says the event is a safe alternative to trick-or-treating, and features a costume contest with prizes, inflated jumpers for the kids, a chili cook-off, the best candy in town, games for the entire family and more.
Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.
