Dorothy “Dot” Claire Hryniewich Portera passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2009. She was born Oct. 10, 1930, in Pascagoula, Miss., and was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for more than 50 years.

She was the daughter of the late John Hryniewich and the late Valence Mansfield and M.J. McCarty. She was the beloved wife of the late Vincent J. Portera. She is survived by seven children, Samuel J. Portera (Ronda), Vincent J. Portera (Patricia), Kathleen P. Schaeffer (Milton), Tony J. Portera (Gwenette), Michael R. Portera (Brenda), Tina P. Lloyd (Gary) and Jodi P. Bergeron (Gregory); two sisters, Dolores P. Hart and Ann M. Irwin; 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, John Hryniewich Jr.
