‘Tis a busy weekend. Things get underway today with the City of Slidell’s popular Brown Bag Concert. It takes place in Griffith Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Featured will be the great sounds of Christian Serpas and Ghost Town.

Admission is free.

Things continue tonight with a special presentation of the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” at the Slidell Little Theatre. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m.

Audience members are encouraged to wear their favorite Rocky Horror costume and be prepared for a night of ultimate audience participation. Note: The motion picture is rated R, so attendees under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

General admission is $10. Prop bags will be available.

Can’t make it tonight? An encore performance will be given tomorrow night, same time, same place.

Also tonight is a big Halloween Block Party in downtown Covington. It will be held in the 200-500 blocks of Columbia Street.

There’ll be numerous booths, a classic car display, and more. And be sure to wear your best Halloween costume and do some trick-or-treating.

The event is free and open to the public.

Sunday is All Saints Day. And you’re invited to a Blessing of the Graves at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1751 U.S. Highway 190 W., Slidell.

It begins at 1 p.m. and Father Roel Lungay will officiate.

St. Tammany Parish lost one of its truly great guys this past Tuesday with the passing of Francis “Boogie” Gomilla.

He was a good friend, and I have many fond memories of time spent with him. I will sorely miss his camaraderie. And I know many others feel the same.

A funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Slidell. Visitation begins at noon.

Heartfelt condolences to the family.

Rest in peace, Boogie.

Sheriff and Slidell police on the hunt for armed robber

The armed robber, who is suspected of two armed robberies last week on Brownswitch Road and Robert Boulevard in Slidell, is also suspected for the robbery of the Blockbuster Video store at the corner of Gause Boulevard and Military Road Wednesday afternoon.
