Who Dats, Mardi Gras Indians at Slidell Olde Towne Alive Celebration tonight

Published on Friday, November 6, 2009 10:11 AM CST

The Olde Towne Alive block party tonight will be a celebration of the 7-0 New Orleans Saints, and Slidell Mayor Ben Morris has declared today at “Fan-Atic Friday.”

Morris is urging everyone who comes to the block party from 5:30 – 9 p.m. to wear black and gold to show their support for the Saints and their upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers.

Also scheduled to appear will be the Creole Wild West Mardi Gras Indians dressed in all their feathered glory as they dance through the streets of Olde Towne leading Saints fans on a second-line parade.

There are actually two block parties. The “Who’s On First on First Street, and “What’s On Second” celebration on Second Street in front of the City Hall. Besides the Indians, there will also be a performance by The Bayou Liberty Jazz Band. Of course there will be lots of food, drink, street entertainers, artists and antique shopping. The Slidell Museum will have free museum tours with historical re-enactments.

For more information on the Olde Towne Alive party call Main Street Manager Catherine Olivier at 646-4322.
