Dorothea Alexander Dunlap Montgomery, 82, of Folsom, Mandeville and New Orleans, died Nov. 1, 2009, in Norfolk, Va., after having been tenderly cared for by her daughter K.C. Dunlap Joachim for many months.

She was widowed twice, preceded in death by her husbands, Vernon Ray Dunlap and William E. Montgomery. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael Shannon (Elizabeth) Dunlap and Daniel Shawn Dunlap.

She was the beloved mother of Pamela Alexander Blackwood and K.C. Dunlap Joachim; beloved sister of Rhea (Ernest) Daunis, Nedra Faulkner and the late Frieda Frye; beloved grandmother of Sara and Zachary Joachim, Sheridan (Naoko) Sneddon and Carina Sidwell; and  great-grandmother of Hana Sneddon and Lauryl, Brendan and Aubry Sidwell.  She will be deeply missed by her dear friend of over 30 years, Ethel Istre.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Known for her beautiful smile, kindness and friendliness, Dot was a lover of nature and a gifted floral designer, craftswoman and teacher for over 35 years. 

A Mass of Christian burial was held yesterday at St John’s Catholic Church, in Folsom. Interment was in Westlawn Cemetery. While flowers are appreciated, donations may also be sent in her memory to the Humane Society, local animal shelters, or the World Wildlife Fund. Sheriff and Slidell police on the hunt for armed robber

The armed robber, who is suspected of two armed robberies last week on Brownswitch Road and Robert Boulevard in Slidell, is also suspected for the robbery of the Blockbuster Video store at the corner of Gause Boulevard and Military Road Wednesday afternoon.
