Both teams are coming off of losses. Slidell (4-5, 2-4) suffered a tough 34-33-overtime setback to Hammond. The Tornadoes won on a two-point conversion in the OT period to pull off the victory. Northshore (2-7, 2-4) fell to Mandeville 23-14.
Last year’s contest went to the Panthers 29-26 in an exciting game. The teams also met earlier this season in the jamboree with NHS winning 14-6.

Tigers’ coach Artie Liuzza said it was a tough loss.
“Anytime you play your heart out and lose, it’s disappointing,” Liuzza said. “The positive thing is that you know your kids played their hearts out. The two-point conversion was the backbreaker, but there were other plays that we didn’t make.”
Liuzza said Wednesday that the practices have gone well, while adding the players are resilient and they do a good job of bouncing back.
Offensively, Slidell operates out of the spread.
Last week, running back Jonathan Miles scored two touchdowns on runs of five and 23 yards.
Running back Jaron Wiggins also tallied on a two-yard run.
Quarterback Randal Meyer found the end zone from nine-yards out on a keeper early in the third quarter, which was set up by a Miles 39-yard run.
On Slidell’s overtime possession, C.J. Hampton recovered a fumble in the end zone for six.
Defensively, the Tigers are multiple.
The unit held a tough Hammond offense to just seven-first half points. Michael Norman had big day with two interceptions.
For Northshore, it’s been a tough year for the Panthers.
It started out rough from the get go. During the first-game this season, the team lost senior quarterback Jervious Epherson for the year.
Last week, the offense struggled, gaining just 69 yards in the first half, 50 passing.
Despite that, the Panthers only trailed 10-7.
Wide receiver Adam Chopin returned from injury last week and opened the game with a 96-yard kickoff return.
Defensively, Northshore runs a 4-3.
Last week, lineman Terangi Phifer tipped a pass and then intercepted it, returning it 23-yards for a touchdown that gave the Panthers a 14-10 third-quarter lead.
His interception followed a 61-yard punt from Taylor Eads that put Mandeville at its own three.
