During the week, Slidell coach Nancy Plaisance said she thought her team’s playoff match against Denham Springs would be a good one and she was right.

Her team played Denham Springs during a tournament in Denham Springs earlier this season, which went the distance with SHS winning.

On Thursday, the Lady Tigers and Lady Jackets again played the maximum games with Slidell taking a 25-21, 23-25, 24-26, 25-18, 15-7 road victory.

SHS (19-14) advances to the regional round and travels to face Dominican tomorrow at 4 p.m.

Lady Tigers’ junior Sara Tate finished with a career-high 34 assists.

Plaisance said Tate had a great match.

“She showed a lot of leadership,” Plaisance said. “That’s great when you can get that from your setter.”

For the match, Quinci Hayward tallied 18 kills and six solo blocks, while Hannah Gambrell posted 17 kills, two solo blocks and two aces. Sophia Bordelon logged 12 kills, while Cameron Lowe totaled seven kills. Sierra Shafer-Ducre pulled up seven digs and put down two kills, while Alexis Bouchereau had eight digs.

Plaisance said the hitting was very balanced.

“Sophia Bordelon, that was her best match. Quinci and Hannah both had great matches,” Plaisance said.

The Lady Tigers’ coach said one thing she’d like to see get better is her team’s consistency.

She said Slidell had some big leads the first four games.
