St. Scholastica Academy, the No. 10 seed, dominated Zachary on Thursday at home sweeping the Lady Broncos 25-7, 25-8, 25-7 in the bi-district round of the playoffs. The Doves’ Camille Walther pounded 10 kills and pulled up eight digs to help spark the victory. Christina Wurm contributed 10 kills with Meghan Clark dishing off for 32 assists. Clark and Monique Giarrusso netted three aces. Giarrusso and Gabby Braud chipped in with eight digs each and Maggie Helm collected seven. SSA (24-15), the second place team in District 4-I with a 9-3 tied with Mandeville, will travel to Lafayette Monday to go against the Comeaux
SSA coach Danny Davis said his club played well as a unit tuning in a solid match.
“I thought we were very focused and disciplined in the way we played. We got contributions from everyone. We dictated the tempo of the match by serving and passing well, which allowed Meghan (Clark) to run our offense in a very efficient manner. Overall, the team did a great job,” Davis said.
Zachary (13-20), a No. 23 seed, was unable to generate much offense with Elise Beier, Andrea Collins and Haley Guillot only coming up with one kill each. Aubin Brian totaled four digs, while Leslie Annison and Erin Peroyea came up with two digs each.
