The Lakeshore High Titans capped off their inaugural season Wednesday night with a 42-22 season ending victory over the Bogalusa Yellow Jackets JV squad finishing 9-1.

Titans’ quarterback Michael Ball tossed two touchdown passes and also ran for two scores to help propel Lakeshore to the victory. Ball connected on 5-of-5 passes for 84 yards. The Titans rushed for 199 yards on 23 carries with Ball gaining 71 yards on seven carries, while Nick Williams picked up 66 yards on seven rushes.

The Titans’ defense did its share registering eight sacks led by Mikal Mazik with two.

The Titans under first-year head coach Larry Route made huge strides during the season, the first in the school’s history.

“Our guys really improved as the season went on and I think the last two games we executed with precision on offense and our defense was very aggressive and made some big hits,” Route said.

“I am very proud of the way we competed this season (9-1) and hopefully it will carry over to next year. We learned how to compete against some very good teams,” Route added.

The Titans got on the board with 2:29 left in the first quarter with Williams scoring on an 11-yard run, which finished off a three-play 50-yard drive. Titans place kicker Ian Jones, who was six-for-six on extra points, booted the extra point to make it 7-0.

Lakeshore’s next drive started at the Bogalusa 45 ending on a 7-yard pass from Ball to Williams at the 9:13 mark in the second quarter.

After a three-and-out by the Titans’ defense, Lakeshore scored with Ball hitting Al Damion Riles from 32 yards out with 4:26 left in the first half. On the second play of Bogalusa’s next offensive series, the Titans’ Dustyn Smith intercepted a pass and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown with 4:11 left in the half.

Lakeshore fumbled on a later possession with only 24 seconds until halftime. Bogalusa capitalized on the turnover by throwing a 42-yard touchdown pass with just six seconds left in the half and converted a two-point conversion to make the halftime score 28-8.

Lakeshore received the ball first in the second half and went 70 yards in five plays with Ball scoring from three yards out with 7:34 left in the third quarter to push the lead to 35-8.

Lakeshore tacked on its final score with Ball again doing the honors tallying on a one-yard run with 8:56 left in the game.

Bogalusa added two scores late on a 7-yard TD pass with 3:15 to go and added a two-point conversion. The Yellow Jackets struck again on a 29-yard touchdown pass with 57 seconds remaining, but failed on a two-point conversion to close out the scoring at 42-22. 2.
