Rene Avegno Harris, 82, passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2009.

He was the beloved husband of Sheryl S. Harris; father and stepfather of Stephen, Rick and Kim Harris, Julie Lacroix, Jeanne Lovern, Jennifer Gaines, Rebecca Dougherty, Clayton Simpson, Susan Livaudais and the late Gregory Harris. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Carl and Edith A. Harris, three sisters and one brother.

He was a native of New Orleans, a former resident of St. Tammany for 30 years and a resident of Washington Parish for the past two years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday Nov. 21, 2009 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer either Masses be said or donations to the National Kidney Foundation of LA (www.kidney.org/support/).
