Dr. Clarence Elbert Manasco, 88, passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009.

He was the beloved father of Linda Ellis, Judy Siren (Bobby) and Keith A. Manasco; grandfather to Kim, Tracey, Darin, Shelly, Shannon, Lesley, Ashley, Jennifer and Brook; great-grandfather to Madelynn, Joseph, Ashlynn, Colton, Austin, Jacob, Megan, Michael, Marjorie, Logan, Aaron, Noah, Emily and Marley; brother of Ruby Lee Dowden, Clyde Manasco, Dorothy Allen and Audrey Westbrook. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Dell Rhodes Manasco; a daughter, Carolyn Manasco Meadows; mother, Ruby Bickman Manasco; and father, Charles Elbert Manasco.

He was a native of Sabine Parish, and a resident of Covington for the past 16 years. Dr. Manasco served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a lieutenant in the Pacific. An educator most of his career, Manasco was a member of the original team sent from LSU to start LSU at Eunice back in 1966. Dr. Manasco and his wife Marjorie embraced the community where they gained many friends.

“Doc” enjoyed serving in many civic activities such as past president of both the Eunice Lion’s Club and Eunice Kiwanis’ Club. Prior to his retirement from LSUE, Dr. Manasco served as Director of Financial Aid. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington. A wake will be held from 6- 9 p.m. tomorrow, and visitation will resume on Friday at 8:30 a.m. Graveside services will be on Friday at 4 p.m. at Bellwood Baptist Church Cemetery in Bellwood. Sheriff and Slidell police on the hunt for armed robber

The armed robber, who is suspected of two armed robberies last week on Brownswitch Road and Robert Boulevard in Slidell, is also suspected for the robbery of the Blockbuster Video store at the corner of Gause Boulevard and Military Road Wednesday afternoon.
