Claude Duval Crider Jr., 87, longtime resident of Slidell and Diamondhead, Miss., died Monday Nov. 2, 2009, in Munster, Ind. Claude was born in New Orleans on Aug. 27, 1922, to the late Claude Duval Crider Sr., and Annie Morse Crider. He was married to Betty Jo McMahon on Sept. 2, 1949 in Beaumont, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas, receiving a bachelor of science degree in applied mathematics.

Claude actively served in the military as a U.S. Army staff sergeant during both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He spent his career as a structural engineer in the air and space industries. He was an active member of the Methodist Church for over 53 years.

Claude is survived by his wife, Betty McMahon Crider; daughter Claudia Crider Huson; son Matthew McMahon Crider; son-in-law James Huson; daughter-in-law Cynthia Crider; two nephews, three nieces and two nephews, and two nieces by marriage. Claude was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Crider Elmore and Perry Ann Crider McDuff, and one nephew.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday Nov. 21, 2009 at the Diamondhead Methodist Church in Diamondhead, Miss. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. until service time. Memorial donations may be made in Claude’s memory to the Diamondhead United Methodist Church or to the charity of one’s choice.

Sheriff and Slidell police on the hunt for armed robber

The armed robber, who is suspected of two armed robberies last week on Brownswitch Road and Robert Boulevard in Slidell, is also suspected for the robbery of the Blockbuster Video store at the corner of Gause Boulevard and Military Road Wednesday afternoon.
