Kenneth Harrison Browne Sr., 84, of Slidell, passed away in his sleep Monday, Nov. 16, 2009.

He was the beloved husband of the late Audrey Manix Browne; father of Robin L. Browne, and Kenneth H. Browne Jr. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Drew L. Browne, Forrest H. Browne, Devin Browne Hammon and Nathan K. Browne.

A native of New Orleans, and a resident of Slidell since 1964, he was a retired insurance underwriter with Northwestern Mutual. Browne was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, having fought at the battle of Iwo Jima and in the Korean War.

He was a member of the Toastmasters and Young Men’s Business Club, and a member of the Sports Car Club of New Orleans and the Antique Car Club of Slidell.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral.

Funeral Services at 11 a.m. Friday at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. W. (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans.

Sheriff and Slidell police on the hunt for armed robber

The armed robber, who is suspected of two armed robberies last week on Brownswitch Road and Robert Boulevard in Slidell, is also suspected for the robbery of the Blockbuster Video store at the corner of Gause Boulevard and Military Road Wednesday afternoon.
