MHS boys third, SPS fourth
in CC title

Catholic’s Philip Primeaux captured the individual title with a time of 16:24 edging out St. Paul’s Matt Mouton (16:28) at the 2009 Louisiana State High School Cross Country Championships run Monday at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

Mandeville’s Bryan Mutell (16:45) came in third followed by Catholic’s Barrett Miller (16:52) and teammate Cole Stafford (16:53) rounding out the top five.

Catholic High of Baton Rouge (33) won the team title followed by Jesuit (73) and Mandeville’s Skippers (90) in the 44-team field. St. Paul’s Wolves (98) earned a fourth place finish followed by Brother Martin (126). Other St. Tammany Parish teams, which competed included Fontainebleau (402) in 13th place, Northshore (655) in 21st position, Slidell (714) coming in 25th and Covington (1,047) in 36th place.

Mandeville’s Steven Hollander (16:59) earned a seventh place finish with St. Paul’s Ethan Mizell (17:11) coming in 11th. MHS’ Marty van Duym (17:20) came in 14th followed by St. Paul’s Scott Brewster (17:23).
