Slidell downs Pearl River

Slidell’s Lady Tigers cruised past the Pearl River Lady Rebels, 55-25, in PRHS’ season opener held Tuesday at SHS.

The Lady Tigers are 2-0.

Kameron Lacoste scored a game-high 19 points and was 3-for-5 in 3-pointers. Katrina Littlepage tallied 13 points and five steals, while Cookie Fraticelli finished with nine points and two steals. Jordan Narcisse and Nele Treblin each had seven.

Pearl River’s Kyra Washington posted 12 points and four rebounds, while Gail Walker recorded nine points, 15 boards and four steals.

Boys

Pope John Paul II tops Pearl River

Pope John Paul II’s Jaguars defeated the Pearl River Rebels, 56-45, in the opener held Tuesday at PJP.

Joel Price led the Jaguars with 15 points. Matt Binder and Calvin Brazley posted 14-points each.

Pearl River’s Lonnie Hayes registered 15 points and James Gillum totaled 10.

Salmen falls in

a heartbreaker

Salmen’s Spartans suffered a 44-42 loss to the Chalmette Owls to open the season at home on Tuesday.

Chalmette hit a 3-pointer with eight-seconds left, but Salmen missed the front end of a 1-and-1. Salmen went 4-for-21 from behind the arc and hit on just 6-of-14 free throws.

Charles Trotter finished with 13 points, while Thomas Jones had 10.
