Salmen defeats Northshore

Salmen’s Spartans defeated the Northshore Panthers 69-58 in a home game held Thursday. Both squads are 1-1. Khari Price led Salmen with 22 points, while Charles Trotter scored 16.

Northshore’s Michael Duplessis tallied 19 points and Brandon Eddleston posted 10.

First Baptist tops Holy Rosary

First Baptist Christian School’s Eagles downed Holy Rosary 56-44 in a game held Thursday at the New Orleans Arena. First Baptist was 6-1 at press time.

The Eagles trailed 36-33 after the third quarter, but came back for the victory.

Caleb Earhart led all scorers with 24 points, while Jonathan Fredericks tallied 11 and Anthony Benasco added 10.

Girls

FHS beats Independence

Fontainebleau’s Lady Bulldogs trimmed Independence Thursday 46-29 sparked by Nicole Gurievsky, who tallied 13 points with seven rebounds, five steals and two assists. Jennifer Beehler contributed 12 points including two 3-pointers. Beehler added three rebounds, two steals and two assists. Rebekah Crandle chipped in with five points, four boards, two steals and two assists.

Danielle Revon accounted for three points with five rebounds, four steals and two assists, while Arianna Landry netted four points and three rebounds.

FHS (2-0) built a 13-5 first quarter lead and held an 18-16 halftime advantage. The Lady Bulldogs outscored Independence 9-7 in the third quarter before putting up 19 points in the fourth period to secure the 17-point victory.

PJP II holds on

for victory

Pope John Paul II’s Lady Jaguars held a 31-26 lead with five minutes left and had to hang on for a 31-29-season opening road win over Our Lady Academy of Mississippi Thursday. OLA is 3-1 this year.

Nicole Saucier led PJP with 10 points, while Taylor Martin registered eight. Sara Laudun had six and Christa Roscigno added four.

Pearl River falls

to Varnado

Pearl River’s Lady Rebels suffered a 33-28 loss to Varnado on the road Thursday. PRHS is 0-2

Kyra Washington finished with 13 points and four rebounds, while Tiffany Hall scored seven. Gail Walker tallied six points and grabbed five boards.

Heather Polk had three points, three steals and two assists.
