Pope John Paul II falls to Bogalusa

Pope John Paul II’s Lady Jaguars suffered a 76-62 loss to the Bogalusa Lady Jacks in a back-and-forth game held Thursday in Bogalusa.

Bogalusa led 22-9 after the first quarter, but the Lady Jaguars (1-5) fought back and had a 31-29 advantage by halftime. Bogalusa was up 47-45 after three.

The problem for PJP was turnovers.

The Lady Jaguars committed 15 turnovers with nine in the fourth quarter.

Ashley Allen posted 19 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Christa Roscigno tallied 16 points and two steals, while Sara Laudun posted 14 points and grabbed five boards.

Covington

downs Varnado

Covington’s Lions defeated the Varnado Wildcats 65-51 Tuesday on the road behind Jordan Bedford’s 28 points.

Shaq Callahan finished with 17 points, while Phillip Bickham added nine points and Jarius Bickham contributed seven.

CHS held a 25-23 first half lead.

The Lions outscored the Wildcats 19-18 in the third quarter and 21-10 in the final period to capture the victory.
