So, doesn’t “expecting the unexpected” make the unexpected expected?

North Shore Square will host a Winter/Mardi Gras Art Show Feb. 15-28, and local artists are invited to showcase their talent.

All artwork must be framed and ready to hang with screw and wire only. Entries without suitable wire securely attached will be declined. All frames should be black and all matting white. Wrapped canvases are acceptable. Limit of three pieces of art per person. And nothing larger than 24 inches by 24 inches will be acceptable.

Each piece of art must be marked with the name of the artist, category and contact number. A small index card (unruled 3 x 5) with information about art piece (not handwritten) should accompany the artwork for display purposes. No art can be sold on property.

Entry forms can be downloaded at www.northshoresquareonline.com.

Artwork will be accepted Feb. 10-12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and may be picked up after the show on Mar. 3-4 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. All artwork not picked up on those dates will become the property of North Shore Square.

Judging will be held on Feb. 19, and the best in show will receive $250, people’s choice $100, first place $75, second place $50, and third place $25.

My friend Gwen Wade is heading up a new group called the St. Tammany Parish of Louisiana Friends of Haiti. And she invites area churches and organizations to join in the effort.

An organizational meeting will be held this Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m. at Grace Memorial Baptist Church. And members from interested churches and organizations are encouraged to attend.

Got questions? Phone Gwen at 985-643-9788 or 985-640-0090.

Geaux Saints!
