Salmen

tops Slidell

Salmen’s T.J. Price had a monster game with 28 points, including five 3-pointers and six rebounds in a 54-50 victory over Slidell in a non-district game held Thursday at SHS. Salmen moved to 20-6 overall, while Slidell is 19-8.

Jamal Robinson posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards, while Khari Price scored six points and dished out eight assists.

Tevin Parker led Slidell with 16 points, while Brennan Reynard tallied 14. Andrew Winston recorded seven points and Nicolas Abram logged six.

Covington tops Fontainebleau

Covington placed three players in double figures Thursday led by Jordan Bedford’s 19 points as the Lions scratched out a 60-54 district victory over the Fontainebleau Bulldogs on the road. Bedford turned in a superb all-around game for the Lions adding seven rebounds, five steals and two assists. CHS’ Phillip Bickham finished with 16 points, a team-high eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. CHS junior point guard Jarius Bickham added 12 points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists, while Shaq Callahan dropped in seven points with six boards and a steal.

CHS (20-8) moved to 7-3 in district, while FHS (14-13) battling a number of injuries slipped to 3-7 in district play, despite a game-high 26 points by Quin Cooper. The Bulldogs’ leading scorer, averaging 19.5 points per game, connected on 10-of-21 shots from the field, while going 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Cooper also pulled down four rebounds, four assists and was credited with a block. FHS’ Richard Bienvenu delivered 12 points with seven rebounds, two blocks and an assist. Tyrus Parker collected 11 points for the Bulldogs with four rebounds (three offensive), a block, a steal and an assist.

FHS raced out to a 14-7 first quarter advantage, but the Lions roared back outscoring the Bulldogs 22-8 in the second period to take a 29-22 halftime lead. The Lions increased the lead to 40-30 entering the final quarter. Fontainebleau fought hard in the fourth period outscoring CHS 24-20, but suffered the six-point loss.

Salmen’s T.J. Price scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a 57-52-double overtime victory over East Jefferson in a district game held Tuesday at Salmen. The Spartans are 5-0 in league play.

Khari Price tallied 12 points and Jamal Robinson put up nine points to go with 10 rebounds.
