Fontainebleau’s Lady Bulldogs soccer club remained unbeaten firing on all cylinders Friday scoring early and often in the bi-district round of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association state playoffs at the Dawg pound. Fontainebleau junior Casey Adkins blasted in five goals and senior Mallory Richardson tallied twice and was credited with three assists to spearhead the Lady Bulldogs to a convincing 12-0 playoff victory over the Chalmette Lady Owls.

Fontainebleau senior Blake Forest netted the game’s only goal in the 43rd minute, helping the Bulldogs advance to the regional round of the state playoffs in a 1-0 victory over the Grace King Fighting Irish Friday at Lakeshore.

Former Saints’ offensive lineman Steve Korte, a University of Arkansas graduate, was the team’s first pick in the 1983 draft selected as the tenth pick in the second round. Korte said the Saints didn’t have a first round selection because they had traded Archie Manning to the Houston Oilers and gave up their number one draft choice in the deal.

Northlake Christian advances to regionals
Northlake Christian School’s sophomore Brelynn Witty tallied the game-winner on a penalty kick to carry the Lady Wolverines to a 5-4 bi-district round victory over Louis McGehee Friday night. The game was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation play, which forced two 10-minute overtimes, two 5-minute golden goals followed by the penalty kick.

MHS hands PHS first district loss
Mandeville’s Katie Lindelow and Hannah Tracey both recorded double-doubles Thursday to help spark the Lady Skippers to a surprising 72-44 district road victory over the previously unbeaten district leading Ponchatoula Green Wave. The game was moved to Thursday to accommodate for Friday’s parade in Mandeville.
