Schools will not close Monday due to the Super Bowl game.

Business will continue as usual at the school board on Feb. 8.

Three construction projects were recommended for approval by the St. Tammany parish School Board committee as a whole for business affairs and administrative matters Thursday night.

A 10-classroom addition was deemed complete at Creekside Junior High School at a cost of $1.8 million funded by the 2008 bond issue.

The Slidell High School renovations funded by the 2008 bond issue, including the hallways, five classrooms and room and rest rooms were also deemed complete at a cost of $2.4 million.

Ragusa Construction was awarded the bid for $1,957,000 for the new administrative area and student services area funded by the 2008 bond issue. Budget for the project was $2,175,000, with a savings of $218,000.

Bids were also accepted from NECO Co. for special systems at Bayou Lacombe Middle School and Alton Elementary School portable buildings for about $187,000 each.

Progress is being made at the new Salmen High School buildings with each building in various stages of completion, as reported by Cameron Tipton, lead supervisor of construction.

Other monthly reports of maintenance, custodial, risk management and transportation were also presented and accepted by the committee.
