Mandeville sophomore forward Katie Lindelow turned in a dominating performance Monday night registering a double-double with 17 points and 19 rebounds helping the Lady Skippers chart a steady course with a 55-53 regional round road victory over the Terrebonne Lady Tigers. Lindelow was also credited with a team-high six steals.

Mandeville (21-3), the No. 11 seed, advances and will host the St. Thomas More Lady Cougars, the No. 3 seed, which moves on following its 62-42 victory over Thibodaux, the No. 14 seed.

MHS’ Hannah Tracey finished with 17 points including two 3-pointers and added five assists, while Elizabeth Manuel collected 11 points with five steals. The Lady Skippers came up clutch at the free throw line clicking on 14-of-16 charity tosses including a perfect 10-of-10 in the second half when it counted most. Terrebonne made just 13 of its 24 free throw attempts.

Mandeville coach T.A. Ricks said his team making its free throws was a big difference helping lead to the two-point victory.

“Our players kept their composure down the stretch and were able to finish the ballgame. It was a great win for our girls and Katie (Lindelow) came up big for us,” Ricks said.

Lindelow talked about the importance of hitting the free throws.

“We’ve been working on taking lots of free throws in practice. It definitely paid off for us. We hit them at the end and it helped us a lot,” Lindelow.

Lindelow pulled down 19 of her team’s 27 total boards.

“They had some tall girls so rebounding was tough. Their post players knew how to play inside. We worked really hard to get offensive and defensive rebounds,” Lindelow added.

Lindelow said her team was awesome in the fourth quarter and felt they were able to out hustle their opponent.

“We were able to make some steals and our shots started to fall for us in the fourth quarter. This is a great victory. It’s awesome,” said the sophomore.

Mandeville survived a poor shooting-performance hitting 19-of-63 (30 percent). MHS was 9-of-30 in the first half and 10-of-33 in the second half.

Mandeville turned the ball over 11 times compared to 16 for Terrebonne.

Terrebonne senior Sierra Lyons topped the Lady Tigers with 20 points, while senior Alaina Verdin added 19 and freshman Raina Diggs totaled six.

Terrebonne 10th year coach Greg Knox said the difference was his team missed 11 free throws and turned the ball over 16 times.

Terrebonne (25-5) led 17-8 after the first quarter and was up 29-23 at the half. Mandeville outscored Terrebonne 12-11 in the third period, but still trailed 40-35 entering the final quarter.
