Rick L. Copeland passed away Friday, March 12, 2010, at the age of 56.

He was the beloved husband of Melissa Humphries Copeland; loving father of Aaron Robert Copeland, Connnor Sullivan Copeland and Collin Madison Copeland; son of the late Aline Denny Copeland and Robert Madison Copeland; brother of Carla Copeland Howard of Tennessee and Robert and Madison Copeland of Alabam and grandfather of Robyn Copeland. He is also survived by his close cousin, Mike Alred, and extended family in Alabama and Louisiana. He was a native of Florida and a resident of Abita Springs for the past three years.

Funeral services were held yesterday at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington. Interment was in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. Sign the online guestbook at www.ejfieldingfh.com.

DARBY

David M. Darby passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Slidell Memorial Hospital. He was a resident of Pearl River, for the past 45 years, who worked as a pile driver in the construction business and was a member of Honey Island Coon Hunters Association for many years. 

He is survived by two daughters, Tanya Morgan and Sonya Ducote and their husbands, Alton Morgan and Shane Ducote; two brothers, Manuel and Sidney Darby; five grandchildren, Natasha and Mitchell Clements, Reva Morgan, Savannah Ducote and Shane Ducote Jr.; and great-grandchild, Morgan “MoJo” Clements. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rossie Darby, whom he was married to for 44 years before her death in 2008; his parents, Archie and Myra Darby; a sister, Evelyn Vaughn; and two brothers, Johnny Richard Darby and Aubrey Darby and great-grandchild, Alicia Morgan.  

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, in Hickory Memorial Gardens, 67525 Louisiana Highway 41, Pearl River, with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment to follow in Parker Cemetery, Talisheek. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to help defer funeral expenses.

DUNNE

Mary “Judy” Dunne, 54, of Pearl River, passed away Sunday March 14, 2010.

She is survived by her husband Joseph Dunne; two daughters, Judy Lyn Williama (Michael A. Williams) and Victoria Dunne Gaines. She is also survived by three brothers, David Earl Howell, Ernest Roy Howell and Frank Elmer Howell; three sisters, Helen Jane Jenkins, Callie Odell Reid and Thelma Lee Lambert; four grandchildren, William Joseph Gaines, Mary Katherine Gaines, Aubryanna Ashten Williams and Michael Anthony Williams II and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

She was preceded in death by one brother John Delmar Howell; sister Annise McLin, and her parents Thomas Myrtle Howell and John Henry Howell.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Highway 41, Pearl River with the Rev. Joe Kennedy officiating.Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time.

DUSEK

Chef Carl Dusek, 47, lost his courageous battle with cancer Monday, March 15, 2010, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in Jefferson.

He was the beloved fiancé of Elaine Brown; father of Paul Dusek (Amanda) and Robert Dusek; son of Camille Brady Dusek and the late Robert Dusek; brother of Debbie Haylett, Claudia Mercer, Anthony Dusek, Marilyn Hukill and the late Sibyl O’Dette Dusek. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Alexis and Madison Dusek and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a native of Mantua, Ohio, and a resident of Slidell since 1980. Carl was a former family member and chef at Ray’s Bullpen in Slidell and currently a chef and instructor with ART Catering in Belle Chasse. Carl was a member of C.I.A. and enjoyed ice sculpting and fishing. Carl was considered the Best Damn Chef in Slidell!

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Pinewood Country Club, 405 Country Club Blvd., Slidell. A memorial service will be held in Mantua, Ohio, in the near future for Carl. Further details will be available soon.

FERRARA

Carmel Marie O’Hara Ferrara passed away Friday, March 12, 2010, at the age of 86. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Albert Ferrara; loving mother of Robert Earl Ferrara, Laura Carmel Ferrara and Paula Ferrara Cook; daughter of the late Robert and Mabel O’Hara; grandmother of Sean Patrick Cook. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mercedes, John, James and Robert O’Hara. She was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans.

All funeral services were private with burial in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery No. 1. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. FURR

Rita Souza Furr, 86, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Thomas Furr; mother of the late Frank Thomas Furr Jr.; sister of Raymond R. Souza, Kenneth Trottier and Margaret Mary Johnson and sister-in-law of Louella Brown. She will be missed by her special family, Jill, Carley, Jacob and Paul Nelson. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. She was a native of Hawaii and a resident of Abita Springs for the past 14 years.

The funeral service was held yesterday at from E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington. Interment was in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
