Slidell City Meet features eight double-winners

Northshore’s boys and girls teams swept the Slidell City Meet held Thursday at Slidell High.

In the boys, NHS captured the event with 159 points.

Slidell was runner-up with 140, followed by Salmen (109), Pearl River (51), Pope John Paul II (49) and First Baptist Christian School (24).

The event featured eight double winners, four from the boys and the girls.

In the boys, First Baptist’s Caleb Earhart, Northshore’s Adam Chopin, Salmen’s Robert Turner and Slidell’s Armand Williams all took two events.

Earhart was first in the 800-meters (2:09) and the 1,600 (5:01).

Chopin topped the 100 (10.07) and the 200 (22.31). Chopin also finished third in the 400 (53.10).

Turner swept the hurdles, winning the 110 (14.89) along with the 300 (42.25).

Williams got the high jump (6-0) and the long jump (21-0). Williams also finished 10th for the 200 (33.20)

Northshore had two other individual winners. Trevor Harrison captured the 400 (51.01), while Mason McGee got the javelin (164-01). McGee also was runner-up in the discus (129-4).

The Panthers also swept the relays, winning the 4x100 (43.64), 4x200 (1:30) and the 4x400 (3:39).

Four other Slidell members won events. Kyle Rudolph got the title in the 3,200 (11:03), while Bennard Ory was tops in the pole vault (10-0), Kenyon Adams took the shot put (46-4.25) and Alex Hill won the discus (140-2).

Also, Salmen’s Ian Collishaw took home the title in the triple jump (35-0.75). He was also third in the 800 (2:13).

Girls:

In the girls, Northshore won with 164 points.

Slidell took second with 115 points, while Salmen (88) took third. Pope John Paul II (72) was fourth, followed by First Baptist Christian School (48) and Pearl River (47).

Like the boys, there were four double winners, including First Baptist’s Gabrielle Jennings, Pope John Paul II’s Ashley Allen, Northshore’s Janean Pittman and Pearl River’s Gail Walker.

Jennings took the 1,600-meters (5:41) and the 3,200 (12:15).

Allen captured both hurdles, winning the 100 (16.83) and the 300 (50.74). Allen also took fourth in the 100 (13.29).

Pittman won the high jump (4-6) in a jump-off with Salmen’s Christina Muilenburg. She also got the 800 (2:50). Pittman also was runner-up in the long jump (15-3).

Walker was a discus (108-0) and shot put (33-6.5) winner.

NHS had two other individual winners, while sweeping the relays. Macy Degruy got the 200 (27.12) and Madison Doll was first in the 400 (1:06). Degruy was also runner-up for the 100 (13.13).

The Lady Panthers were also first in the 4x100 (51.40), 4x200 (1:50) and 4x400 (4:37).

Slidell recorded three top finishers. Brianna Miller won the 100 (12.83), while Whitney Campbell took the pole vault (7-8) and Katrina Littlepage captured the long jump (15-8).

Also, Salmen’s Darrian Vine was tops in the triple jump (29-6.5) and First Baptist’s Sarah Petty got the javelin (81-6). Vine also finished fifth for the 200 (29.54) and seventh in the long jump (13-1.5). Petty was runner-up in the discus (97-6).
