Salmen girls win third week of Northlake Golf League

Salmen’s Nguyen takes girls individual top spot; Pope John Paul II’s Fiore ties for first in boys

Salmen’s girls golf team won first place with a 104 in the third week of the Northlake Golf League held Tuesday at Money Hill Golf and Country Club near Abita Springs.

The golfers played nine holes. The girls’ team scores were taken from the top two golfers of each squad.

Pope John Paul II (125) took second, followed by Pearl River (138) and Franklinton (140) rounded out the field.

Lakeshore competed, but did not have enough to qualify for team honors.

Salmen’s Jennifer Nguyen won the individual competition, shooting a 38.

Lakeshore’s Austin Crosby (55) was runner-up, followed by PJP’s Taylor Martin (61) for the top three spots among the 14 golfers.

The boys’ team scores were taken from the top four.

Franklinton captured the event carding a 180.

PJP (194) was second, while Lakeshore (210) and Pearl River rounded out the field.

Salmen participated, but didn’t have enough golfers to qualify for a team title.

Individually, Pope John Paul II’s Quinn Fiore tied Franklinton’s Trent Seabrook with a 43 for the top spot.

Franklinton teammates Laden Jenkins (44) and Karlton Ginn (45) were third and fourth respectively. Lakeshore’s Bryce McCool and Salmen’s Mike Rodriguez (46) tied for fifth in the 20 participants.

The next stop is Tuesday at Covington Country Club.
