Covington edges Belle Chasse

Covington’s Randy LeBlanc tossed a complete-game four-hitter helping lead the Lions to a 3-1 victory over Belle Chasse Wednesday in a game played at CHS. LeBlanc (3-1) struck out eight. Ridge Buisson collected two hits and drove in a run for the Lions, who improved to 10-8 on the season.

Fontainebleau tops Ponchatoula

Fontainebleau’s Amanda Lassus and Brooke Thomas each collected three singles Thursday to help lead the Lady Bulldogs to an 8-2 district home victory over Ponchatoula. Thomas, who leads the Lady Dawgs with a .623 batting average, drove in two runs, while Lassus knocked in a run. Thomas, a speedy junior, has also swiped 15 bases for the Lady Bulldogs. FHS (12-4) upped its district record to 5-1 with Kendyl Stevenson (7-3) going the distance allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits. She struck out five and walked one. Ponchatoula’s Traci Plauche had two hits including a homer. FHS led 3-1 before scoring three runs in the bottom of the third. FHS added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take the victory picking up 12 hits.

Northshore blanks Mandeville

Northshore’s Lady Panthers defeated the Mandeville Lady Skippers 2-0 in a district game held Thursday at NHS. The Lady Panthers (11-3-1) were 4-2 in district at press time, while Mandeville (15-8) was 4-2. Christina Hart and Chelsea Nette had two-hits and one run batted in apiece. Haylee Lanzas, Kayla Panks and Carley Short all had one hit for NHS.

Kristin Gekler, the winning pitcher, threw a complete-game four hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk. Mandeville’s hits came from Brooke Matherne, Gabby McDaniel, Joanna Rochelle and Brooklyn Sansome. McDaniel suffered the loss.

Slidell downs Hammond

Slidell’s Mel Carter and Alex Faciane both went 3-5 with a double and two runs batted in during the Lady Tigers 18-4-district road victory over Hammond Thursday. SHS (11-9-1) was 4-2 at press time.

Tori Gough doubled and walked three times.

Ali Jung picked up the win. She tossed a complete game, allowing one earned run on three hits.

Pearl River shuts out Salmen

Pearl River’s Lady Rebels cruised past the Salmen Lady Spartans 15-0 in a district-home game that lasted four innings.

Pearl River (7-9) is 4-2 in district, while Salmen slipped to 0-5 in league play.

Pearl River’s Katie Hebert, Megan Holifield, Abby Maillet, Shayna Pippen, Shelby Walker and Katie Wallace all had one hit.

The Lady Rebels showed plate discipline, coaxing 11 walks.

Hebert, the winning pitcher, tossed three innings of one-hit ball with six strikeouts.

Erika Ybarazabal had Salmen’s hit.

Pope John Paul II defeats NCS

Pope John Paul II’s Jessica Gros went 3-3 with a double and six runs batted in, helping the Lady Jaguars blank the Northlake Christian School Lady Wolverines 13-0 in a district-road game that lasted five innings. PJP (11-7) is 2-1 in district.

Winning pitcher Laura Ricciardone struck out nine. Michelle Diaz went 2-3 with two RBIs, while Ricciardone finished with two hits. Northlake Christian’s Brandi Chesne and Jacqueline Gross both had a hit for NCS.
