Looper captures amateur state golf title

University of New Orleans golfer Ken Looper, who is transferring to LSU to join the Tigers’ program in the fall, continued to sparkle as he fired a 14-under par 270 to capture the 2010 Louisiana Golf Association State Amateur Championship the tourney was held June 10-13 at Koasati Pines at Coushatta Golf Club in Kinder.

Capital One sweeps doubleheader
Capital One Bank (Fontainebleau High-based) swept American Legion Post 16 (Archbishop Hannan-based) in a doubleheader Tuesday played at the Bone Yard. Capital One Bank stole game one 8-7 on Drew Richard’s clutch two-out single scoring Blaise LeBlanc in the bottom of the seventh inning of the opener and captured game two 16-6.
