Stretching their sea legs

About 20 young sailors earned their sea legs this week when they guided their sailboats through the treacherous waters of Eden Isles canals to earn their sailing certificates.

Chambers get legislative roundup

On July 9, the St. Tammany West Chamber of Commerce held its monthly luncheon at the Dakota Restaurant in Covington. At this meeting, members were presented with a legislative roundup from the most recent state legislative session as well as an update from the U.S. Coast Guard at BP on the oil spill in the gulf.

Art League names Artists of the Month for July

The Slidell Art League recently announced their artist of the month winners for July.  Taking top honors in the Master Division, Lynda Donaldson was recognized for her oil portrait entitled “Blue Eyes.” Second and third place in the Masters division was awarded to Richard Ray for “Flat Top” and Camella Dimitri for her photograph, “Sharring.” Mary Pat Landry was awarded Honorable Mention for her pastel painting, “Pelican on Teal.”
