The Louisiana Knights 17/18s finished the summer going 2-1 in the West Florida Showcase Tournament, which was shortened by rainouts. The club registered a 18-17-1 overall record.

La. Knights 18s conclude its successful summer

The Louisiana Knights 18s closed out their summer season over the weekend participating in the West Florida Showcase Tournament held in Pensacola at the University of West Florida. The Knights 18s posted a 3-0 record and were the top seed, but the final two games of the tournament were rained out.

Coach Payton makes book-signing debut

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, the author of “Home Team” made a guest book signing appearance Monday evening at the Mandeville Barnes & Noble Booksellers store. The enthusiastic and beloved fan base crammed into the store to get the Super Bowl champion author’s autograph. In the book, coach Payton describes the team’s Super Bowl victory, which raised the city’s spirits for years after Hurricane Katrina.

Bradley chalks up another win

Mandeville High incoming junior Elise Bradley racked up another victory winning the 45th annual Louisiana Women’s Golf Association Junior Girls State Championship title last week played at the Oak Wing Golf and Country Club in Alexandria. It was Bradley’s second consecutive victory after winning the LWGA State Amateur championship June 19-23.

Porter named baseball coach

Northlake Christian School announced the hiring of Ricky Porter Tuesday to replace Rowland Skinner as the Wolverines’ new head baseball coach. Skinner was named the Mandeville High Skippers head baseball coach on Tuesday after leading the Wolverines to two consecutive state titles.

Kehoe-France Northshore Blast’s 13-14-year old 800-meter free relay team set a new state record of 9:02.37 during the 2010 Louisiana Long Course Championships, which took place July 15-18 at the UNO Lakefront Arena.
