Rebel Preseason Tailgate Party

The Pearl River High School football team is hosting an old-fashioned preseason tailgate party 7 p.m. today at the school. Bring your barbeque pit, hang out, listen to music, buy ads for the 2010 football program and pay your quarterback-club dues.

The Salmen Football Golf Tournament is tomorrow at Pinewood Country Club. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the four-man scramble starts at 1 p.m. The cost is $75 per golfer, which includes green fee, cart fee along with beverages, hamburgers and hot dogs served before the event and dinner afterwards.

SYFA registration ends Sunday

Tomorrow and Sunday are the final two days to register for Slidell Youth Football Association football and cheerleading at the SYFA Field House at 3158 Terrace Ave. The times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. All players must be present at the when they sign up. All new players must bring their birth certificate. Visit slidellyouthfootball.net website for more information.

Fall basketball training signups

Signups for the fall 5-6 and 7-8-year old developmental leagues is going on. Also, the fall Amateur Athletic Union registration is occurring. For information, call 773-4185 or visit www.northshoresportsplex.com.

Mandeville Soccer Club registration

Signups are ongoing for the Mandeville Soccer Club through Aug. 7 for those 4-adults.

The season runs Sept. 4 to Nov. 7. Players must be four by July 31. To register or for more information, call 624-8080 or e-mail msclub@bellsouth.net.

Save Our Lake Fishing Rodeo

The 14th annual Save Our Lake & Coast Fishing Rodeo is Aug. 7-8. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children under 16. Each ticket includes one entry to the Rodeo and the Awards Party, a one-year membership to the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation and a Rodeo T-shirt.

LSU football

Fan Day

LSU’s annual football fan day occurs Aug. 8 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center and the Carl Maddox Field House. This year’s setup will have LSU coach Les Miles, the rest of the coaching staff and the offense located in the Field House and available for autographs and pictures, while the defense and special teams will be in the Maravich Center.

Fans can meet Mike the Tiger, the LSU cheerleaders along with the volleyball and women’s soccer teams.

Some of the giveaways include posters, schedule cards, and magnets for the football, soccer and volleyball teams. Also, the football placard poster will be given away that day.

French Quarter Classic Golf Tournament

The French Quarter Classic Golf Tournament occurs Aug. 9 at Oak Harbor Golf Club with a 1 p.m. shotgun start to benefit the Make a Wish Foundation. The four-person scramble begins at noon. The cost is $80 per golfer and $150 for a hole sponsorship. A donation of $425 or more gets you a foursome and a hole sponsorship. For more information, call 646-0110.

CYSA Fall Season Registration

The Covington Youth Soccer Association will hold registration for the 2010 Fall Season starting in September for ages 5-18. For more information, call 807-6454 or for on-line registration visit www.covingtonsoccer.com.

Lads and Lassies Couples Tournament

The third annual Lads and Lassies Couples occurs Sept. 18-19 at the Natchitoches Country Club with shotgun starts set for 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The event features an 18-hole scramble each day. The cost is $200 per team or $100 a person. The tournament will have cash prizes, a longest drive and closest to the pin contests both days. Lunch is included for each day and that Saturday night there will be dinner and a dance. Lads and Lassies shirts are available for $30 each, but you must place those orders two weeks in advance. Northshore Tennis Association offers youth program

The Northshore Tennis Association has an ongoing Junior and Mr. Pee Wee development tennis program for boys and girls ages 4-18. It starts with private or semi-private sessions to familiarize youngsters with tennis terms, stroke production and procedures. The year-round programs are held at the Kehoe-France Northshore School and public courts in Covington and Mandeville. Competitions are held for boys and girls 10 and under that have not been ranked on a state level and are new to tournament competition. Yearly registration is $25 and $5 and an unopened can of tennis balls is required per tournament or $8 total per tournament.
