School Board Forum Sept. 8

The League of Women Voters of St. Tammany is sponsoring a School Board Candidates Forum 6 p.m. Sept. 8. All School Board candidates have been invited to participate in this event. The forum will be at the Parish Council Administrative Building in the Council Chambers located at 21490 Koop Drive in Mandeville. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the forum. Attendees will have an opportunity to submit written questions to the candidates. The league is collecting donations for the Covington Food Bank and attendees are asked to bring a bag of nonperishable food with them to the forum. Access St. Tammany is taping the forum and it will be shown on Access St. Tammany and on through their website. For more information, visit the parish’s Web site at www.stpgov.org.

Slidell District F Meeting Sept. 8

Slidell District F Councilman Jay Newcomb has called for a public meeting of his constituents at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Slidell City Council Chambers 2045 Second St. Slidell.

Rep. Shroder

to host meetings

State Rep. John Schroder of District 77 will hold two public meetings this month to inform constituents of current state issues and give constituents a chance to discuss any community issued or concerns.

The first meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Greater Covington Center, 317 N. Jefferson Ave., Covington.

The second meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Hammond City Council Chambers 312 E. Charles St., Hammond.

State Rep. Shroder will also be at the Mandeville Tea Party meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Mandeville Community Center, 3090 E. Causeway Approach, Mandeville.

Board to vote on millage rate

The Board of Commissioners for Fire District One will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Fire District Training Academy meeting room, 34780 South Range Road in Camp Villere.

The board will be considering levying addition or increased millage rate or adopting an adjusted millage rate and rolling forward to a millage rate not to exceed the millage maximum of last year.
