The krewe is known for its whacky and satirical themes. They are one of only two night parades in Slidell, and they walk through the streets of Olde Towne with decorated grocery carts and children’s wagons as floats.
Krewe spokesperson Suzie Hunt said the contest is open to everybody, and the winning design will be put on the krewe’s poster, T-shirts and their Web site.

Not only will the winner have his or her design pasted all over the place, but they will also win $100, a Mona Lisa and Moonpie T-shirt, two free adult memberships in the krewe and they will have the honorary title of “Court Artist.”
All entries become the property of the Krewe of Mona Lisa and Moonpie and will not be returned.
The deadline for submission is 4 p.m. Sept. 30. They must be delivered to the Lowery-Dunham Case & Vivien Insurance Office, 2001 First St., Slidell, during normal business hours. Contestants can also call Hunt at 768-6294 to make arrangements for delivery. Submissions must be submitted as hard copy and on disc as a .jpeg file. All entries must include the artist’s name, phone number and e-mail address attached to the back of the artwork and also on the disc.
For more information on the contest or on joining the Krewe of Mona Lisa and Moonpie, call Suzie Hunt at 768-6294.
